I had the blue screen 888-603-4618 warning this mornimg. Did not go into the directions as it's clear it was a scam of some sort. I wonder if I will have to clean up anything as have not seen it again. Thanks

Hi peanut

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As you have correctly identified this is a scam, and as such there is nothing for WSA to stop per se. Given that one has to call a phone number and then acquiesce to aan offer or deal proposed by the scammers, what is there to block.

Having said that if the popups offeringnthe scam continue then they may be something for WSA to deal with as it may be down to the presence of a PUA or Potentially Unwanted Application.

If you need information about PUAs and removal then pleaase post back and one of us will be happy to oblige.

Many Thanks Baldrick,
I was thinking that would be the case, but since I'm a computer idiot, I thought I should ask. I did search Bing and the other sites regarding this phone number and found some people were getting it over and over again  to the point of complete computer lockup. The call center is in India of course and the unlucky people that are getting the blue screen of death are recent down loaders of Windows 10, that would be me. Might get rid of it but other users of Windows 7, XP etc have had the same problem. Thanks again for your help. Oh, they can fix it for 299.99 dollars and the ability to roam around in your hard drive. lol

Hi peanut

You are far being a 'computer idiot' as you did not fall for the scam as many have and will do...;)

Yes, $299.99 is a good little earner for them especially when there is nothing for them to do...LOL. And if you ever do have any issues related to security issues/Webroot just remember that one can always Open a Support Ticket and get the professionals to look to sort you out.
