whenever I try and open an file it tells me the file has been either removed renamed or deleted

whenever I try and open an file it tells me the file has been either removed renamed or deleted and I have not done any of these options. How do I open thiese files? For example I am attempting to open a file is excel of which I utilized this morning.

    Perhaps you could provide us with more details regarding your problem?
     
    What Operating System are you using? (Windows 7,8 10, Mac OSx)
     
    Does this problem occur with all files or just certain files?
     
    Where are the files you are trying to open stored on your computer? (C: drive, flash drive, ext HDD, NAS, etc.)
     
    Are you trying to open the file from the recent list within the Excel application?
