I don't know how to correct it. Should I start my back up earlier or later than I usually do?

When you say that you are "having a lot of trouble with my back ups and up dates" would you be able to describe in a little more detail the circumstances of the trouble? What exactly are you trying to update & what are you trying to back up...and with what software.
