Hi jbenson
Welcome to the Community Forums.
The short answer is 'No', you do not need to buy McAfee protection to supplement WSA's protection. WSA will provide excellent protection on its own and by not also running McAfee you will have less impact on your system's resources.
However, if you want a layered defence then you can run both security applications together without any issues.
Having said that I, personally, would not waste my money on McAfee when WSA will do a better job on it's own.
