I'm wondering if my webroot protects my computer against "bots"? I had a redirect to a page telling me to contact Microsoft and had a hard time closing it out. I ran a scan right away. Thanks.

Hello ?,

Webroot protects against known and emerging malware.

Bots are basically just infected PCs used for a purpose, usually DDoS attacks.

What you are referring to is a browser hijack. When something like this happens you can either restart the browser to get away from it, kill the browser process, or just restart the computer. It is not an actual threat on the machine, its essentially a scam.

Hope this helps!
