At least once every computer session, I have "warning popup pages" that will pop up and lock up my computer until I log off or

restart.  I have run Webroot plus a couple other programs to check it out, but have never found any virus.  I figure these are "opportunity" scammers looking for a stool-pigeon to charge $100 to scan my computer.  My computer seems to be running smoothly until one of the popups hit locking it up.  I do not appear to have any particular problem at the time.  How can I protect myself from these annoying popups?  I do not appear to have any other popups other than the warning type.
Hello gary145,

Welcome to the Community Forum,

If you are seeing random pop-up ads with the “Virus Alert – Warning” text within Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome, then your computer is infected with an adware or a PUA

If this is not what you are seeing then please look below.

Here are a few popup blockers below.

For Firefox Adblock Edge: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-edge/?src=ss

For Chrome µBlock : https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/%C2%B5block/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?utm_source=ch...

For Internet Explorer Del Ad 15 day trial: http://www.delad.com/en/

So I would suggest to use one of the other Browsers as the Ad Blockers are free.

I also use Ghostery

So with Internet Explorer you can do this

To adjust Internet Explorer security settings

  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button  and then clicking Internet Explorer.
  2. On the menu bar, click Tools, and then click Internet options.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Adjust the security level by moving the slider up or down.

If you still need help getting rid of these popup warnings then please submit a Support Ticket free of charge with an active subscrisption.

Kind Regards,
