I've purchased Webroot to renew my subscription. I was told all I had to do was update the security code, but when I go to Webroot it also asks me for personal security code. I don't know what that is. This is the first time for renewing Webroot.
Never mind, I finally found where to update just the security code.
Hi fefemac1

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If renewing your WSA subscription then there is nothing more that you need to do as you should be using the same keycode and the renewal should come through automatically.

If however you have purchased a new subscription, i.e., a 'pseudo' renewal, and been provided with a new keycode all you need to do is:

and then:

enter the new keycode and then press 'Activate.

Now the above holds good for both Best Buy & Webroot versions, i.e., version not purchased through Best Buy, but who you get your renewal from is determined by who you bought it from.

Also, if doing the 'pseudo' renewal, i.e., you have received a NEW keycode then please post back as there some considerations to take into account BEFORE you enter the NEW keycode.

Hi, I am planning on doing the mentioned "pseudo" renewal. What are the things to consider before using a new code?
Hello ?, welcome to the Community!

The main thing is to remember that some servcies, like Password Manager, are tied to both the specific user email address, but also a specific key code.  If you are planning on purchasing a new key code instead of renewing:

  • Make sure you get the same version you already own
  • Make sure to Submit a Trouble Ticket with both your old key code and your new key code.  If you do this well before the old key code is due to expire, you can ask support to just transfer the license time from the new one onto the old one.
  • Make sure you purchase from a reputable source.  Private individuals on EBay or Amazon do not count as reputable when it comes to purchasing software.

Thanks, I did just what you adviced.
