I have MSN Premium and I acually have WEBROOT Secure Anywhere for MSN version which is not listed above. It contains a RealShield, WebShield, Firewall, Identity Protection, and Utilities. I was told by MSN support that the WR install should disable MSE and the Windows Firewall, but MSE was still active. I turned of the check box for Real Protection, but it ran tonight automatically...I am assuming because the Schedule was still enabled and set for a time when the computer was on. I have since unchecked it, but I wanted to make sure I was correct in thinking I did not need MSE any longer? I am testing out WR to see how my computer speed and CPU usage is in comparison to MSE. I already love the 15-20 minute WR Full Scan completion time versus MSE's 7-8 hours! However, I was just going to turn MSE off, rather than delete it just yet. What are the recommendations for MSE with WebRoot. and what are your thoughts about the fact that it was not disabled open installation of WebRoot? Thank you - TZ
We dont disable other AV's when we install as we work alongside them. Its entirely up to you  if you want to disable MSE, I wouldnt remove it though.
Hi TZ

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If I may add my twopennies worth to what Roy has advised?  One of the first things I do on a new machine is to install WSA and then disable MSE or Windows Defender which ever happens to be on the system.  But that is very much my preference and as Roy has stated running the two together will be fine, and also if yo want a layered defense that having both on at the same time will provided that.

But in my view WSA does a much better job at protection that MSE and therefore I switch it off.

Switch it off, see how your systems behaves without it running, then switch on again and make the comparision, and if there is no difference then you might as well leave it on.

As I said, just my two pennies worth...for what they are worth. ;)
