I'm using Firefox 40.0.2 on Windows 10, and the Webroot Password Manager icon on the toolbar no longer links to the Password Manager, but instead opens a new tab of the Webroot home page. Where did the Password Manager go?  I have run the toolbarfix.exe, but this has not fixed the problem. My Firefox addons list shows both the Password Manager and the Filtering Extension installed and active, but I can't access the Password Manager. I can add and remove the Webroot icon from the toolbar (through Firefox's customization), but it still only links to the main page. What has happened here?
Hi johannsagan

Welcome to the Community Forums

Since the release of FF 40 this is a known problem as a result in the change in which Mozilla allow 3rd part extensions like the Password Manager to be handled.  Please see this previous thread for details on the issue...it is lengthy but well worth reading (and subscribing to) to get up to date on the issue.

Thank you Baldrick! I'll give it a read.
Hi johannsagen

You are most welcome.

I have been catching up on things and from what I read whilst the Toolbarfix tool does work for some it does not for all as you have found, and we have also heard some reports that a clean install of Webroot, instead of the toolbarfix, may help resolve the issue. To do that please folow the steps below carefully

  • Make sure you have a copy of your Keycode to hand!
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and don't import any settings if asked to as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
If this does not help resolve the problem, you will probably want to Submit a Support Ticket and get assistance from Webroot Support.  There is on charge for this for WSA user with an active subscription.

I am having this problem since WSA updated yesterday to 9.0.2.21. Clicking on the icon in the toolbar does not bring up the password manager log in box, but to https://my.webrootanywhere.com/

I have followed the instructions in the above post to do a clean reinstall but this has not done any good. I am running FF latest with W10. Disabling/enabling the add on in FF does not cure it either.

I have just run the toolbar fix, and also this has not cured the problem.

Have sent a message to Support.
Hi Yarco

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As you will have noted in the referenced threads in my previous posts...this is an issue of Mozilla's doing, which Webroot Support are aware of and are in the process of trying to sort out.

If you have trieds the remedies that other s have foudn to work and they have not for you then until such time as the SupportTeam have managed to sort the issue out (and how quickly they can do that may well depend on how forthcoming/helpful Mozilla are in the matter) there is nothing much else that we can do but wait.

Hello ? and ?,

May i put in my 2 cents worth. With Firefox having these issues with Password Manager and as I use FF as my default browser. I've decided until FF and Webroot resolve this I've gone back to Firefox 39 to get Webroot Extensions back. I've stopped the automatic update of FF in Options/Advanceds ettings/Security/and selected "check for updates" but let me choose whether to update them. Then I went to the FF help page HERE and selected Install an older version of FF. Which i downgraded to 39.0.3 . FF does warn you.. it could be a security risk in doing this. So I'd advise you consider that if you plan on following this.

Otherwise using the Chrome Browser of IE is another choice.

Kind Regards,
