OpenText Core Endpoint Backup v11.6

What is being released?

Stay informed, automate group management, and protect your newest devices with our latest updates, including client support for macOS Tahoe.

New Features and Enhancements:

  • Expanded Restore History: The Restore Details table now shows a full year of activity, matching the summary view.
  • macOS Support Updates: Now supporting macOS Tahoe and ending support for macOS Monterey.
  • Stay Informed: A new "What's new" button takes you directly to the latest release notes.
  • Automate Group Management: Sync user groups directly from Azure AD and Okta to save time and enhance security.
  • Visualize Your Fleet: See all your devices on a global map to quickly identify their locations.
  • Get Timely Updates: Receive important alerts and information through new banners.
  • Prioritize Backup Issues: A new "Issue duration" column shows how long a device has been unprotected, helping you address critical issues faster.
  • Public APIs: Password-reset MFA, activation code lifecycle, suspend/unsuspend company, remote device wipe, device messages & events.

View a Full Year of Restore Details

To give you a more complete picture of restore activities, we have extended the data shown in the Restore Details table on the Restore History tab.

The table, now titled “Restore details in the last 365 days,” displays a full year of restore records, aligning it with the summary table. This allows you to perform more thorough audits and investigations of restore activities directly within the console. For easier navigation, the table includes pagination to help you browse through extensive restore logs.

macOS Client Support Updates

  • Added: The backup client now supports macOS Tahoe.
  • Removed: Support for macOS Monterey has now ended.

Discover What's New Instantly

You will now find a persistent “What’s new” button on the home page. With a single click, you can access the official release notes, keeping you informed of the latest features, fixes, and updates without leaving the application.

Automate User Group Management with SCIM 2.0 (Azure AD & Okta)

You can now use SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) to automatically sync user groups and memberships from Azure AD or Okta.

  • Manage Access in One Place: Create and manage your groups in your primary identity provider, and all changes will automatically sync to Endpoint Backup.
  • Improve Security: Automatically remove a user's access when they are removed from a source group.
  • Save Time: Eliminate the need to manually update user groups and memberships in multiple systems.

Visualize Your Devices on a Centralized Map

Gain a clear, at-a-glance view of your entire device fleet on a global, interactive map.

  • See Device Concentrations: Instantly view where your devices are clustered by region, country, or city.
  • Investigate More Efficiently: Drill down into specific clusters to review device lists and quickly identify anomalies.

Get Timely Updates

Short, targeted messages with two banners on the dashboard:

  • Alert banner: incidents or urgent actions.
  • Information banner: feature rollouts, maintenance, general notices.

Quickly Identify and Prioritize Backup Issues

The Devices page now includes a new “Issue duration (days)” column. This column displays how long a device’s backup status has been "Not Protected" or "Partially Protected," allowing you to prioritize your troubleshooting efforts on the most critical items first.

Getting Started

  1. Upgrade your fleet: Ensure any devices running macOS Monterey are upgraded to a supported OS.
  2. Explore the Restore History tab to see the newly extended restore details.
  3. Pilot SCIM group syncing by connecting a test group from Azure AD or Okta.
  4. Review the "Issue duration (days)" column on the Devices page to address any longstanding backup issues.

New Public APIs:

  • Password-reset MFA: Add a time-limited verification step to your reset flow for stronger account recovery and an auditable trail.
  • Activation codes — create & manage: Programmatically create, list, update, and retire codes for scripted installs and large rollouts; retire old codes without touching existing devices.
  • Suspend / Unsuspend a company: Pause (and later resume) backups and restores for a customer or business unit—useful for incidents, compliance holds, or billing pauses.
  • Remote device wipe: Remove backup data from a device when a device is lost or stolen; vaulted copies remain intact.
  • List device messages: Pull operational messages into your SIEM/ITSM for faster triage.
  • List device events: Stream time-bounded device events for health tracking, analytics, and reporting.

Heads-up: WCF (SOAP) retirement

Starting with the next release in the May–June timeframe, we will retire the legacy Windows Communication Foundation (SOAP) APIs.

Suggested next steps

  1. Inventory any integrations calling WCF.
  2. Map them to the REST APIs listed at {your-vault-url}/swagger.
  3. Pilot in a test tenant, then cut over and decommission WCF calls.

Microsoft Customer Agreement Updates

We are pleased to announce the release of an improved Microsoft Customer Agreement experience.  This update includes a minor change to our Office 365 ordering processes to ensure compliance with Microsoft requirements that will go into effect on January 5th, 2026.

What's New

  • New Microsoft Customer Agreement Pop-Up:  Microsoft now requires explicit acceptance of the Microsoft Customer Agreement.  After entering the required information and selecting the new "I Agree" checkbox, we present this agreement to our partners in a pop-up within Secure Cloud to avoid them needing to log into the Microsoft Portal to accept the agreement.
  • Seamless Integration: Customers who already have an existing accepted Microsoft Customer Agreement will not be impacted by this change.  For new customers, once the new MCA is accepted, it will never expire, so this new process will only need to be completed once.
  • New Microsoft Customer Agreement Fields:  The Microsoft Customer Agreement section of our order forms now contains a phone number field as required by Microsoft.
