The OpenText Server Backup Portal, previously the Carbonite Server Backup Portal, now proudly showcases OpenText branding on its pages and in automatic emails.

Support for SQL Server 2022

Ransomware Threat Detection:

With Windows Agent 9.4 and the Image Plug-in, you can enable threat detection when you create or edit an Image backup job. When this option is enabled for an Image backup job, the agent checks for potential ransomware threats when running the job.

If the Windows agent detects a potential threat when running an Image backup job, the resulting backup is flagged in the following locations in Portal:

- On the Computers and Monitor page, "Potential Threat" appears in the job's Last Backup Status column.

- The Current Snapshot shows the number of jobs with potential threats.

- When you restore data, backups with potential threats are identified in the Restore dialog box.

- When you delete specific backups (as described in "Backup Deletion", below),backups with potential threats are identified in the Delete Backup dialog box.

- If centralized email notifications are set up in Portal, admin users can receive emails when potential threats are detected. Potential threat detection emails can also be sent to notification email addresses for child sites.

- The Daily Status Report includes a Potential Threat Status column.

If a Windows agent reports a potential threat in an Image backup job, you can investigate whether a ransomware attack occurred. An Admin user can then manage the threat using Portal. If a ransomware attack occurred, an Admin user can recover files from a backup created before the attack. If a ransomware attack did not occur or the potential threat has been addressed, an Admin user can clear the threat warning for the job.

If you turn off threat detection for an Image backup job where it was previously enabled, any potential threat flags are removed from the job and its backups.

Job Template Improvements:

When creating or editing a job template for automatically configuring Windows Local System or Image jobs, you can now specify whether to check for potential ransomware threats.

Admin users in parent sites can now delete custom job templates in child sites that they manage.

No Automatic Upgrades for Agents on Windows Server 2012 R2 or 2012:

When automatic agent upgrades are set up in a Portal instance, you can no longer upgrade agents on Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012. On the Computers page, upgrade status icons do not appear for agents on these unsupported Windows versions, and you cannot select the "Upgrade Agent on Selected Computers" action for the agents.

Localization:

Portal text for recently added features has been updated in non-English languages.

Security Improvements:

Security enhancements have been added in this Portal version.
