Hi Spain2010

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I am assuming that the popup advertising you are referring to is in browser and if that is the case then the first place to work to resolve the issue is to use the web browers own options to disable pop-ups or block images from selected websites.

Followings are specific ways to block banner ads in Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

To turn on the Pop-up Blocker in Internet Explorer

1. Open your Internet Explorer.
2. Navigate to top menu and select Tools. On the drop-down list, please click on Internet Options.
3. Switch to Privacy tab on the Internet Options window.
4. Tick the “Turn on Pop-up Blocker” to prevent a particular unwanted website from appearing on your browser.

If you want to allow banner ads on specific website, please click on the "Settings" button to exclude a website.

To turn on the Pop-up Blocker in For Chrome:

1. Open Google Chrome.
2. Click on the Wrench icon to top-right corner of the browser and on the drop-down list, please select Settings to display present configuration of Google Chrome.
3. Scroll downloads and locate the Privacy area and click on Content settings button. It will open a new window.
4. Go to the Pop-ups area and tick on “Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended)”.

To allow pop-ups from certain web sites, click on Manage exceptions and add the website address.

For Firefox please go here for equivalent instructions

Alternatively or in addition to the above you can use extensions or add-ons to block banners. SOme of the preferred ones of Community members are:

For Chrome: uBlock    https://chrismatic.io/ublock/

For Firefox: Adblock Edge    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-edge/?src=ss

For IE: Adblock Plus    https://adblockplus.org/releases/adblock-plus-14-for-ie-released

Now, if the popups you are referring to are occurring when not using abrowser then please post back and we can take you down another path re. resolution, namely how to deal with PUAs or Potentially Unwanted Applications which can cause out of browser popups...but I do not want to provide that information, and so potentially confuse you, unless we suspect PUAs rather than just the need to do the above.

Just to add for Firefox AdBlock Edge isn't supported anymore so I would suggest uBlock Origin for Firefox as well: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

And for Chrome uBlock Origin: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
