Using Chrome and out of nowhere "Webroot Filtering Extension" has appeared in my extensions and now I'm automatically redirected to the website. How do I remove this program/extension since the disable/remove option is not available.

Hello @Donayre21  and @palmtreep

Sorry for the issues your having, Go to the Chrome Store here and try to remove it from there: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/webroot-filtering-extensi/kjeghcllfecehndceplomkocgfbklffd

If it continues them Submit a Support ticket and they will help you sort it out.

Note: When submitting a Support Ticket, Please wait for a response from Support. Putting in another Support Ticket on this problem before Support responses will put your first Support Ticket at the end of the queue, it should be 24 to 48 hours but could take a little longer because of COVID 19.

Sorry again,

This has also happened to myself. About three or four days ago, I randomly was met with a splash page on Chrome for the Webroot extension. I don’t have webroot nor did I install this myself.  There are no options to remove it. Says its installed by policy. Switch is greyed out and cannot be removed.

If this is a way to get new customers, it’s very intrusive to that.

We have the same problem too. We have tried everything to remove it on our MacOS devices.

But Webroot keeps overwriting our Chrome policy files and forceinstalling it.

So if this is happening on MacOS and Windows, the problem seems to be widespread.

This answer is wrong.

I don’t own the software or have ever owned it. This only works if you have fully downloaded the software not if it’s a chrome extension.

In my case it is an extension, which was randomly applied to chrome without my permission after a windows update. Apparently it is “required by policy”.

As mentioned above, this option will not work as we cannot access the actual software panel. Neither one of us has purchased this software. At all.

So the question is, how do you get rid of the extension on Chrome, when we have NOT purchased the software? Windows updated, Chrome updated then this showed up as an extension “added by policy” and every time I open Chrome I get the splash page shown above from the OP.
