Last night, famed fast food franchise Burger King was the victim of a Twitter hack in which their account was stylized in McDonanlds colors and logos.  In this, Burger King was actually able to gain over 2000 followers, and while the prank may be phisocally harmless, causes issues within the burger giant's world when it comes to ensuring their account security accross their social media channels.

It has come to our attention that the Twitter account of the BURGER KING® brand has been hacked. We have worked directly with administrators to suspend the account until we are able to re-establish our legitimate site and authentic postings. We apologize to our fans and followers who have been receiving erroneous tweets about other members of our industry and additional inappropriate topics.

And today, it was found the off-road king Jeep was the latest victim of Twitter hack.  Again, while harmless, this is not the first time a member of the Chysler brand has been compromised or put into a sticky situation regarding their social media.  While Jeep was quick to react to the account breach, a ripple is building up.  Some user speculate the hack was an in house change to gain attention, but the reaction from Chrysler is pointing towards a breach of security.

As Jeep does collect the information of its vehicle owners, a breach like this will have the company looking into its own security procedures very soon.  The last thing the manufacturer needs is a data breach on ther hands.

Coming off the Jeep and Burger King hacks are reports of MTV/BET being hacked.  Right away, many Twitter users have felt that this 'hack' might be a publicity stunt, attempting to build off the popularity of the recent events.  Backing this claim up is a screenshop of BET's social media manager minutes prior to the account, stating "'bout to have some fun w/@mtw +@bet".  This is leading to more backlash than social gains for the once big music video sources, and shows that sometimes jumping a bandwagon can lead to a little fall.
