Since I enabled Webroot filter extension add on my space bar has an annoying delay
Hi bobmac -

I am assuming you have win 10.  I don't believe Webroot filter extension(s) has anything to do with your keyboard delay.

Here's what I suggest you do:

I would suggest you running Hardware and Device troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

1. Type troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar.  2. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.

3. Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.

4. Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.

e. Follow the On Screen instructions.

Please let us know if those directions assist you with keyboard issue.  Good Luck!
Hi julie..Thanks for the reply...I'm using XP with Firefox...when I disable Webrrot Filter Extension..everything is fine...when this started I thought it was my keyboard so I purchased a new one..but still the same...this lag only happens on my browser ..and searching the web it is a problem even with chrome.. I've set up my keyboard by going to control panel/keybord... so everything is fine there....possibly it could be the XP out of date..what does the Filter Extension do anyway..thanks in advance
Hello!

Can you check here to see if something is under Monitor? http://www.webroot.com/En_US/SecureAnywhere/PC/WSA_PC_Help.htm#C10_SystemControl/CH10b_ControllingProcesses.htm and if there isn't anything please Submit a Support Ticket as it could be a simple thing of getting the files whitelisted in the Webroot Cloud Database! Also check here and look to see if anything is under deny: http://www.webroot.com/En_US/SecureAnywhere/PC/WSA_PC_Help.htm#C6_IDProtection/CH6c_ManagingProtectedApps.htm

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
? Thank you for your assistance.  ;)
Your welcome ?

Hi Daniel..Well it came back again and it's definitely Firefox...I have the latest edition of firefox and did all the things like uncheck hardware acceleration... but still the same..it seems to come and go..anyway I will persevere..thanks
Try speeding up your pc. It sounds like a performance lag. I will suggest download CCleaner from piriform. It will help boost it even more. YouTube has some very good tutorials.
OWEN.....I have CCleaner and use it regular...when I type on Internet Explorer everything OK no lag...the lag only happens on Firefox..when I'm typing right now.. no lag..when I go on to WORD and type... no lag...something with Firefox that I'm trying to figure out...I think I will check my settings and see if something there is causing it.....thanks for the reply

How about doing and clean reinstall of Firefox and load your extensions one at a time as they could cause issues as well? https://community.webroot.com/t5/Security-Industry-News/Mozilla-Firefox-46-0-1-Final-45-1-1-ESR/td-p/252256

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
Also try a clean reinstall of WSA if the issues continue:

Please follow the steps closely!

  • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE) Let us know if it is the Mac version you need.
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and don't import any settings if asked to as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
If there are issues after please Submit a Support Ticket so support can look into it for you to make sure it's not WSA..

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
Daniel...a wee bit more info before I try and reinstall...normally when I pull up my browser ..I start typing right away as the cursor is blinking in the search slot..this is when the delay happens causing the text to get all mixed up with no spacing so I have to go back and get it right...now I discovered when I pull up my browser on google .the cursor is blinking in the slot for a couple of secs..it then stops and disappears and then in about 3 secs it start blinking again..so when I start typing all is OK..so the lag is at the beginning..so now that I know to wait .. it is not a big problem..thanks again for all your help
Sure thing! We are always here if you need help!

Cheers,

Hi Daniel..I finally nailed it...it wasn't Webroot Filter Extension..it was another extension AdBlock...we are in business once more ..thanks again
Thanks for letting us know and great to hear! If I may suggest a better option for blocking ads:

For Firefox uBlock Origin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/?src=ss or Privacy Badger:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/privacy-badger-firefox/

Google Chrome uBlock Origin: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en or Privacy Badger:https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/privacy-badger/pkehgijcmpdhfbdbbnkijodmdjhbjlgp

Personally I use uBlock Origin for the last few years and haven't had any issues.

Thanks,

Daniel ;)
Again thanks for your tips ...I have downloaded them..cheers
