Give this a try:
Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Adminstrative Tools->Services
Then locate in the list of services "Windows Audio". Open this service
If this service is showing with a Startup type set to Disabled then Select "Automatic" from the drop down list then hit apply. Then click the "Start" button.
If this service is showing with a Startup type set to Manual then Select "Automatic" from the drop down list then hit apply. Then click the "Start" button.
Next Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices then select the Volume Tab then put a tick in the box marked "Place Volume Icon in the Task Bar" then click apply.
With a bit of luck and following wind you should now have your sound restored.
Good luck

Hello picassowheel1389,
Welcome to the Community Forum,
I'll try to help with what I've found and know about audio, sound and video probelms, You didn't mention what OS you are running so I have a few links avallable below.
Device Manager:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/open-device-manager#1TC=windows-7 and for Windows-8
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/where-is-device-manager
In Device Manager you can update drivers and sometimes uninstalling the device helps and then you would right click on device to scan for hardware changes and the device will be reinstalled again.
Look here: http://www.wikihow.com/Resolve-No-Sound-on-Windows-Computer
You can get Fix it from Microsoft http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/troubleshoot-monitor-and-video-card-problems
Sound problems http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/tips-fixing-common-sound-problems#tips-fixing-common-sound-problems=windows-7
Media Player here for W/8 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/download-windows-media-player
Driver information http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/all-drivers
Have you tried running Windows updates?
Going to the Manufacturer of your laptop for support can assist with new drivers as long as you have your model of PC.
Also going to the manufacture of that device will update the drivers, like Nvidia, Intel..etc.
Hopefully something here can help you.
Kind Regards,
