What I usually try to do when I start getting burned out is to find some project that's substantially different than the majority of my recent work to focus on (at least until I get burned out on that project...)

I agree. Find something new to obsess over and burn out on the weird, random task. Then, when it's time to return to the norm, you're cool with it.
