The problem with the originals is that you cant hear the bass at all, in fact it may as well not be in the originals. Which is a shame as Cliff was a fantastic player (RIP). But your right some remasters are awful.

True... but, if we're talking bass, try this one on for size  [ old school of course ] this is how to play bass!

The 50's and 60's were my era. One of my favorite singing group was the Lenne oon Sisters.
And the one song that I enjoyed was Sad Movies Always Makes Me Cry

I've been listening to MC Frontalot's new album, Question Bedtime.  Check it out here.  He's on tour at the moment, so if you like what you hear, check out his tour dates.

My wife bless her has just surprised me, we are going to see Clannad at the Hexagon in Reading on Friday night.
I have heard them many times over the years in telvision programs etc such as Robin of Sherwood way back in the early 80's.
I do not know if some of you have heard of them across the pond or not.

It is years since I have been to see anyone perform live. Lindisfarne several times in the late 70's and early 80's, Mid 80's The Albion Band and then in about 85 or 86 I saw Deep Purple, Meat Loaf, Mama's and Papa's at a concert at Knebworth House near Stevenage. I worked there at the time so I had free admission and had a great time.

I was at premiere performance of Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd at Knebworth. I'll never forget it. I went to Knebworth a few years, and used to go to Reading also at that time. At that time I loved  Yes (saw), Genesis (saw), Wishbone Ash etc.
Saw Dylan at Earls Court.
Haven't been to gigs for years now, and think last one was Guns n Roses (supported by Faith No More) at Wembley.

I love many types of music, but nowadays my preference is for mostly Baroque (JS Bach, Vivaldi etc),, and I listen to the radio a lot of the time.
Hadn't seen this thread...it's nice! :D

What year were you at Knebworth Dermot? I think I remember it happening but it was before I moved there.
My music tastes have included just about everything over the years and from country to classical, to punk, folk and modern stuff.
When I came back home a couple of weeks ago from sorting out some of my dads things I brought some cd's back of things by Jim Reeves etc, a bit old but not too bad I suppose 😉

I think that Floyd gig was '73, I can check. I was also a keen follower of Fairport Convention, and Steeleye Span, and saw them play quite a few times. I'd guess you may like them?

Used to go and watch Thin Lizzy play free gigs in a local park on regular Sundays...unreal! "Return of the Farmer's Son"

Saw U2 Supporting(!)  Lizzy, and had no clue who they were then.

I like Clannad also, but prefer their earlier stuff.

Haway the Lads! :D

The North East is my homeland and a great area. Cheap beer, good grub and great friendly locals.
Someday I may make it across to Ireland, I keep hearing how nice the place is but I am not a lover of that beer that is brewed over there ;)
Time for me to get off here now.
Thanks for the chat Dermot and I will see you tomorrow.

On Friday night when we went to see Clannad live they had a supporting act on, she was Ruth Trimble, a young lady from Belfast with a fantasic voice. We had not heard of her before but she has fairly recently toured the USA doing 50 gigs in 50 States in 50 days. Well we bought both of her CD's and they are what I am listening to now and trust me, she is great.

How We Roll - Loick Essien Feat Tanya Lacey

  Love this one 🙂

No particular song; my faves are classic rock artists....  Aerosmith, Bob Seger, Boston, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Santana. But I enjoy the newer rock and roll groups too 🙂.

Just had some bad news here. One of my favourite musicians has died today after a short illness - Acker Bilk he was a brilliant jazz musician.

So I am going to play some of his.

Good morning Jasper

Thanks for the tip...I will certainly give it a whirl and see how it shapes up.  If I can find enough good sites to justify it I may well have to ditch the tuner and go for a networked HiFi component for my system...;)

EDIT: I see one of my all time favourite smooth jazz outfits 'The Rippingtons' are trending on the site...Kwel!

Regards, Baldrick
