Hello everyone, I was testing its effectiveness at blocking viruses from downloading onto a clean machine, and tried downloading known viruses and the web shield successfully detected it and gave me a warning to close or approve which is great (ofcourse for deployment I would not allow the user to approve)   Now what I found strange is that when I repeated the test with the same malicious websites and downloaded the same viruses a few hours later, the web shield gave no warning this time, instead allowing the file to download normally then the file system AV kicked in and removed it.   There have been other examples where this happened as well. What i want to know is that why is the web shield component inconsistent.

Webroot for my two dedicated servers

I run my small busineses from two dedicated severs. Server 1 is Linux, server 2 is unbuntu and I have several questions I am hoping someone can answer. 1) can webroot be installed on both of these severs? 2) Is this a good thing to do? 3) Can webroot be installed and operated remotely by someone who has very little  knowledge of SSH?  4) According to Clam Scan there are hundreds of unactivated viruses, trojans, malwre etc etc. on Server 1. Server 2 has no sites on it yet but has 125 domians being readied for the the public and is free of viruses and malware. Can Webroot get rid of the viruses on server 1? 5) How much would it cost to get Webroot and install it on these two servers?

User info in the portal

Hi,   There's a very usefull feature in the new alert config that allows me to use the [currenuser] parameter to see what user that was loged in at the time for the infection. Is this data avalible anywhere in the portal?   // Rikard

Critical Java SE update due Tuesday fixes 40 flaws

Recently whenever I open Internet explorer, it opens to a"Java Software Critical Update" and I can not get rid of it.  Is this something I really need to do?  If not how can I get rid of it once and for all?

Cannot see my server on Webroot management console

Greetings   I have installed Webroot Secureanywhere Endpoint protection on a windows 2008 R2. For some reason i cannot see this server on the Webroot management console. Also I cannot uninstall it as it needs to be managed. I have installed Webroot on around 50 computers in our company and this is the first time I see this issue.   Has anyone seen this before? How to go around it?   Help is much appreciated.   Kind Regards   ioannis

The Growth of Tablets in the Enterprise Market

  Yesterday, Forrester released their latest studies and predictions on the growing tablet market in their report "Global Business And Consumer Tablet Forecast Update, 2013 To 2017 (Purchase the report here for $499).  In the report, the full market was looked at, including the enterprise environment, which lead to some very interesting statistics and predictions.   By the end of 2013, there will be a forecasted 327 million tablets sold in the world, with the iPad leading the sale with 140 million.  By 2017, that base number is predicted to be at 905 million, with 60% of North American online consumers will own.  Of those 905 million forcasted units, 18%, or 162 million devices, will be in the enterprise market.   The most interesting aspect of this report is the highlighting of how many of these tablets will be involved in a BYOD environment, meaning that not every device will be the same, and that most of them will be owned solely by the user/emplo

Reset isn't a real reset

As it stands now the "Reset" command doesn't really live up to its name.   The documentation says, "Reset: Return Webroot SecureAnywhere settings to their defaults." The console says, "Reset SecureAnywhere to its original settings on this endpoint."   However, when the application is 100% controlled by the web console, this description of resetting settings doesn't make sense. If I control the settings why would I reset them to defaults, they should already be at defaults. Unmentioned in this description is that it also resets the collected data about the identity shield and active process monitoring. But using your own console and agent GUI as a guide, those are not considered settings. What is being talked about is the state of the application since they are not something directly set by me as a central administrator. They are dynamically populated and at this time not able to be properly managed. This terminology is ambiguous to an administrator.   To me, "rese

lock up and long scan times

I have a users that is telling me since we installed Webroot that their machine locks up frequently.  Also he mentioned that when webroot is doing a scan(WRSA is using 50% of CPU) that it is making it so he can't use his machine.  I did notice on the console that his scans take 15-20 minutes each time, were other machines are only taking 1-2 minutes.  What do you recommend to do to troubleshoot this issue?   Thanks,   Rich

VPN vendors aware of webroot (F5 and?)

We are planning to change to webroot but our business deals with several VPNs installed on the Laptops of our consultants. In one of the last Releasenote F5 was listed as a VPN vendor that is now aware of webroot as installed AV on clients, when NAC/NAP is activated on the serverside. On TechnologyPartnerPage there is cisco, gfi fsecure listed, but no information what technology is the partnership. is there such a list available?   newmy

couple of issues/questions

So I get an email with the following:        Please find below a summary of endpoints encountering threats recently:         DRFD-LT-1521, DRFD, BNP, *Don't ever post your keycode in public - admin*      This is not giving me much info, so I decide to go to the console and pull up this machine.   So on the console, the machine (DRFD-LT-1521) says Thread Detected under status, and I click "view".   Once the new view window pops up there is nothing in there.   What does this mean?    Can the threat email I get have more information in it? Why is it so vague?   Is there a way to know what items the system has already dealt with or not?  If the issue was resolved why is it still showing on the console a threat?   Thanks for your assistance on these questions.   Rich

Block users from allowing malicious content

Hey everyone, I am evaluating Webroot Endpoint, and have a question.   If for example i visit link to a malicious executable, I get a warning saying its malicious and a choice to close or allow.   I do not want to give the users the option to allow. How would I accomplish that?

Website blocked using Firefox but not IE

I have one user trying to reach newsblues.com using Firefox (v22.0), their preferred browser but the site is blocked by Secure Anywhere (v8.0.2.155).  Using IE 8 is OK (Windows XP SP3)  Windows 7 users are not blocked when using Firefox.  What might I be looking for to allow XP users access to the site or do they just have to use IE?

Windows 2012 weirdness

Ok, just deployed 2 new servers, Windows 2012 core, GUI currently in use as we deploy. Build the servers, patch the servers (all 900mb worth of WIndows updates), do all the standard stuff, activate, initialize disks etc etc. Install Webroot, disable Windows firewall, in one instance I DCPromo'd the box on the build bench as it was a new domain and network, in the second instance I dcpromo'd the box after it was plugged into an existing domain.   In both cases I then shut the boxes off after running them for a couple days, boxed them up, and onsite installs were done shortly thereafter (maximum 5 days offline). On one server nothing is running but the server OS, AD, DNS, webroot, logmein, PRTG server monitor probe, and HP tools and ILO. On the second server, same thing but it was joined to an existing domain then dcpromo'd so the AD has users, machines, and some other domain stuff in AD. Hi there Experts,   I fairly new to Webroot SecureAnyware EndPoint protection and have just setup a new Windows Server 2012 hyper-v environment.   1 x Server 2012 standard (with GUI) running hyper-V role (Host)             3 x Server 2012 Servers (Guests)                    1. File Server                    2. Email Server (Exchange 2013)                    3. Terminal Server   Question 1. Are there any programs/services etc that need to be excluded or whitelisted in Server 2012 / Exchange 2013 right from the start to void any stability or performance issues?   Question 2. Webroot for MAC

So, is Webroot Endpoint security for MAC available yet for business customers/MSP's? I see the suggestion is in progress under feature requests.   Found this : http://www.webroot.com/us/en/home/products/av   There is a download link there for MAC's and it says MAC coverage? Says it has identity shield also. If we install it on a client can we use our regular keycode for endpoint protection to activate it as another endpoint in our management consoles?   Or do we need to buy one offs and add it to our management console?   We have a bunch of MAC users we'd like coverage for, we are an MSP licensed webroot client.   Thanks, Wayne

Cannot launch programs with database on another PC

Hi all,   Firstly i must apology everyone for my english - it's not my main language.   After I'm install Webroot SecureAnywhhere on several PC in my little company i have problems - programs i just to use before don't want to run. Programs was installed localy on PC but database are on another PC (i used him as "serwer"). After install client on the "serwer" PC programs, who before run on another PC stop working. I was try many combinations of editing Polices but programs not run at all. I already even disabled all the options like shields, firewall etc but its still not work. I was refreshing configuration on each endpoint (PC) and it's not working too.   Have no idea what to do - I need to run this programs immediatly, please help.   Thanks for Your Help, I Hope.   Jared from Poland.

Agent commands and quarantine

Hi One thing is not quite clear to me. What is the difference between agent commands Scan and Cleanup. It seems to me that they both will launch the scan and quarantine malicious files. And one more thing - is it possible to pernamently delete files from quarantine using console? Thanks

Uninstall by end user?

Ok, fiddling a bit with a few installs on the way to rollouts of Webroot Endpoint. What I would like to know is how do I prevent an end user from uninstalling webroot?   I just got off an end users machine who uninstalled the other AV bloatware because it slowed his machine down too much. Not an uncommon sentiment, but then I installed webroot on one of my machines and I was able to uninstall it from add/remove programs without a password (the type the above letters verification code was tricky though 🙂 ), and even if I remove the Webroot item from add/remove programs the end user can still go and delete the webroot executable from the program files(x86)webroot directory. Many of my end users are local admins on their machines, so I need an uninstall password on the app.   Is this built in somewhere and I am missing it? Some other way to avoid users doing this? If the executable is deleted does the web console push it back out? Am I missing something?   Thanks, W

Before joining Webroot, I worked as a Network Administrator in the Marine Corps.
