Sky Go and Now TV heading to PS4 by Katie Collins Sky and Sony have today announced a partnership that will see Sky Go and Now TV land on the PlayStation 4. Google's standalone Docs and Sheets mobile apps work offline by Katie Collins   Google has introduced standalone mobile apps for its cloud-based document and spreadsheet tools, in order to simplify the process of creating and editing content on the move. Docs and Sheets will be available on both Android and iOS and are designed to give users easier access to files so that you no longer have to root through Drive to find them. Both of the apps are available now, although there is also a Slides app on the way, which will allow users to create and edit presentations at the touch of a button. When you open the apps, you will see all of your most recently-edited files, which should make it easier to find what you're after, with less scrolling and searching required. AT&T to Launch LTE WiFi Service Built for Airlines by Nathan Eddy To deliver the service, the company plans to build an extensive air-to-ground network in the continental United States, based on global 4G LTE standards. Communications specialist and network operator AT&T announced plans to launch a high-speed 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE)-based in-flight connectivity service for airlines and passengers in commercial, business and general aviation. The service, planned to be available as soon as late 2015, will be capable of providing in-flight broadband for customers including a commitment to faster, more reliable WiFi and improved onboard entertainment.  AT&T plans to work with Honeywell, an aerospace industry specialist, to provide hardware and service capabilities to deliver the in-flight connectivity solution. According to a 60 Minutes report, some U.S. troops in charge of safeguarding and operating parts of the nation’s stockpile of nuclear weapons employ floppy disks in order to do so. Floppy disks, which were commonly found in home computers up through most the 1980s and maybe even early 1990s, have been phased out for ages. However, they still are in active duty at missile sites here in the states. Despite the fact that floppy disks are ancient pieces of tech, at least one member of the military claims that using such dated gear, as opposed to more modern storage media, grants the nation’s armed forces and its nuclear installations some very important security perks.

Economies of scale continued to elude Microsoft's Surface line as the tablet lost more money in the March quarter than in the preceding three-month period, regulatory filings showed. In a 10-Q filed Thursday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Microsoft reported $494 million in revenue from the Surface, the tablet line-up that debuted in 2012 and was refreshed last year. Revenue was down 45% from the December quarter but up more than 50% from the same quarter in 2013. Microsoft pegged cost of revenue for the Surface at $539 million in the quarter that ended March 31.   Full Article

It left us wondering: What's the cost of getting caught? If you want to find out how much it costs if you get caught selling exploits, don't bother with comparisons to drug dealing — or even hacking. I get a message saying "THREATS DETECTED" & then, when I scan my computer, it says "NO THREATS DETECTED".  What gives?

having been through (alive and kind of old) during the Tandy computer days, the DOS days, and now everything should be a breeze. and yet spending time now in sites of "why" and "how?" A webroot customer now going on 4 or 5 yrs...and BAM, crap hits the fan, no wait, it goes through the fan, and no company, hp, ms, webroot caught it. Any youngsters, anybody at all here, do you know anything about AMD Gaming Evolved program that is connected with Raptr Desktop App and AMD Catalyst Control Center that will crash nearly everything?? Googled "is Raptr Desktop App a virus"  results in: if attempted to uninstall a trojan horse is activated?  Anyone know about this stuff? MS spent over 4 hrs last nite fixing it...it didn't work. Just curious...and attempted to contact webroot chat....it opened and then it's busy! A service meant to guard the simplest of comands...busy. Call back later??? Webroot!  

With the retirement of support for Windows XP, a large number of users are left in the position to either upgrade their aging systems or exist in a security limbo, where they could be exploited quite badly at any moment. Microsoft isn’t very subtle about it either, presenting this helpful “bubble” at stalwarts who persist in using the now retired OS in conjunction with MSE. I have had anecdotal reports of users uninstalling MSE as a result, under the mistaken belief that the antivirus is out of date.              

I usually don't join "communities" but I would really like to learn more about internet security and how to better use Webroot. I bought my subscription a couple of months ago and I really like everythng about it so far. Like many, I've used Norton and McAffee in the past. Webroot seems more streamlined and thorough to me. I haven't fully explored the community topics yet. Has anyone mentioned the need for compatibility with Windows 8 phones? I'd really like to use Webroot on my Nokia 1520. I use to be an Apple guy, and I've happily reverted back to Microsoft. Droping my iPhone was the last step. Feel free to contact me. I look forward to learning from all of you here.

My home page with all the webroot computers and mobiles on it is showing red for the mobile.  I was told by a member of the support team that this would disapear after 24/48 hours as the problem has been fixed.  The mobile itself is not showing red just the webpage with the mobile on it.

The end of Nokia? Firm to be renamed Microsoft Mobile Oy when deal closes.  Nokia name could be consigned to tech's past. by Chris Smith   The grand old name of Nokia will be dropped from the company's title as soon as the Microsoft takeover is rubber stamped this month, according to a letter sent by the new owners to suppliers. According to the letter, unearthed by Nokiapoweruser, the Nokia Corporation/Nokia Oyj (Ltd) name will be replaced by the new Redmond-owned subsidiary Microsoft Mobile Oy. The note also attempts to reassure suppliers that their existing relationships and terms will remain in tact as the new Microsoft era begins. It reads: "Please note that upon the close of the transaction between Microsoft and Nokia, the name of Nokia Corporation/Nokia Oyj will change to Microsoft Mobile Oy.
