On May 22nd I started receiving messages from Microsoft...not Webroot...about a Trojan Virus on my computer.  I called the 800 number on Webroot's page for support.  I was directed to a company called TechVantedge.  I ended up paying them $646 for assistance and the virus was still on my computer.  I took my computer to someone here locally, and paid him almost $300 to clear up the problem.  When I sent an inquiry to Webroot Support several weeks after that, I received a reply that Webroot provides free support to clear up viruses.  I asked for a supervisor or someone in charge to contact me regarding the $646 I had spent.  NO ONE has contacted me to date.  I am about to cancel my Webroot and report them to the Attorney General's office. 

Hi,We are trying to generate an access token for one of our clients using their username and password through the https://unityapi.webrootcloudav.com/auth/token endpoint. However, if the password contains an & symbol, we always receive the error message "Username or password is invalid”.When testing with other accounts and passwords (not containing an & character), things work fine. We double checked and we are sending the password field (as any other field) properly URL encoded. My only guess is that the receiving API server is not decoding these values correctly.Would you be able to confirm this a problem on your end or is there something we need to check again?Thanks for any help.Best regards,Steven

Hi folks,I’m a new user here in the Forum and this is my first post / request for help.I’ve just purchased a renewal for my current Webroot subscription via the Webroot’s website, as I didn’t have auto-renewal option on. My current subscription will expire in 23 days (begin of august). I’m a Windows user (in case it matters). The key-code for my renewed subscription is the same as the one for my current subscription which is about to expire.With this in mind:[1]. Will my current subscription automatically renew for another year and activate itself now that I’ve purchased a 1-year extension? [2]. If the answer to the previous questions is yes, will the automatic renewal happen on the last day of the current subscription?[3]. If the answer to [1]. is no - no automatic renewal of the subscription - do I have to manually activate the renewal by logging into my account via the Webroot users account site ? Could use some guidance.

I have had a Webroot account for years now, but each morning for about the last week when I start my Windows 10 PC, this popup appears telling me to “click here” to “create a NEW My Account.” Is this (late May 2022) popup even from Webroot?  If it is, why am I being asked to create an account when I already have one (sounds highly suspicious to me)?  If the popup is not from Webroot, what steps should I take to eradicate the little vermin?  Thank you.  

I used to use avast as my antivirus but changed yesterday to webroot secure anywere and now when I try to immunize with spybot spybot tells me that it was unable to full immunize can anyone tell me how to get webroot to let spybot immunize?

Renewing Webroot, I am told the fee is $39. Nowhere on the checkout page does it say this is USD. I am in Australia, so my card gets charged $59. To me this means one of two things. It’s either deceptive practice, as displaying the actual amount in the currency of the user would be a higher amount, which the company seemingly wants to avoid despite being the honest thing to do. Or, at the very least, it’s simply disrespectful. Is Webroot intended only for U.S. customers? If not, why not have the courtesy to display the amount in the user’s currency (as many respectful businesses do), or at least have the courtesy to state the currency of the displayed fee. Or do they think the whole world revolves around the U.S., and feel no need to think otherwise? I previously contacted support about this issue, and received a canned and completely inadequate response, so just to make things worse, the claims of good customer service are apparently empty claims. 

My dad's had acct for years and passed away. I've been trying for 4 days to renew and get technical support. I'm completely computer illiterate. I've opened tickets and got no response. I found a phone # yesterday and spoke with someone claiming to be from Webroot. I gave them access to my computer and am supposed to speak with them again today. I have no idea if I got scammed and put multiple families at risk. Can someone please help!?

I purchased a package online 1 week ago. Have had problems from the get go. Opened a ticket almost immediately. No response whatsoever. Continued to ask questions in the same open ticket. Have asked 6 times. Yet ZERO response. Funnily enough, yesterday, received what looks like an automatic generated email asking me to review my recent purchase.  Totally unsatisfactory and wish to get a complete refund as the the service is not only pathetic but the security package for 5 devices is only downloading to my computer as the mobile app is not even available in the country where I live.  How to get a refund when the questions I’m asking are not even being answered? Consumer affairs? A very disgruntled customer.  Singapore  

All the information I’m finding online is telling me how to use the system optimizer, but I can’t find it in my program anywhere. I figure that’s probably because the version I bought doesn’t come with that feature, but I’m not sure and I don’t know how to check. Apparently it just disappeared for some people, too, which just makes me more confused 😅 I have version 9.0.32.58, and the line at the top of the window says CE 22.3, but I have no idea what either of those things mean or if they’re even relevant.Help?

I paid to continue my subscription for another year two days ago, but the program still says I only have 11 days left.  Why? Support is a joke.  The only way to get it is to reenter a support ticket I created five years ago, which means nobody will probably read it.  Why? Most technical support requests from other companies result in an immediate canned response that they will contact me shortly.  This doesn’t.  Why? Every time i turn on the computer, Webroot wants to make a change to my hard drive.  Whether I let it or not, it asks again and again.  Why? If Webroot has this much trouble doing business, how can I trust them anymore to catch viruses?  Long time user getting fed up.

I was checking my Mgt Console : (W10) Secure Anywhere CE 21.4 and noticed several devices were doubled/tripled up:See image#1,2,3#7,8#9,10#11,12 What is happening?What have I done wrong ?? Any advice plz, thx Longboard

Something unusual. Webroot CE 9.0.32.58I was shifting files around the other day and making image files for backups, when webroot suddenly lit up identifyiin multiole files which we had previously scanned with no problems and of specific interest all my internet zone domains were red flagged.Had to disable Webroot for the duration.I do use Spyware Blaster to add site restrictions?What was that? 

How can I completely close my account and so that I can stop getting upgrade notices on my phone that don’t work?  I literally get a notice every 5 or 6 minutes and following the upgrade instructions goes to a broken link. If WebRoot cannot get a simple upgrade to work then how can I trust them to provide security for my devices? I’m not the only one with problems because numerous people have left one star reviews of the phone app over the last few weeks and Webroot has obviously not addressed the issue.

Spoke with Webroot technical support about latest version not detecting latest Mac malware. The tech support person wasn’t inclined to believe me and would not help further. Anyone here know why malware discovered in December ‘21 and Jan ‘22 would not have detection in place.  Please don’t ask me to contact technical report (read above).

After upgrading to MacOS Catalina, the WSA window launched on every new login.Really annoying, and no way to control it.So I tried uninstall Webroot, and reinstalling.But after clicking the installer, nothing happens.The webroot icon is sitting in the dock, its open, and clicking it, the menu-bar with only shows “WebrootSecureAnywhere” but just that,  no dropdown menus, or app window .I tried this two times, and same result.Please advise

I am unable to get Webroot SecureAnywhere to stop running in Taskman and in services.msc. Access is denied when I choose Manual or Disable in services. Let me back up a bit by saying I had installed the trial then uninstalled after a week or so. It still starts up (WRCoreService and WRSkyClient). I have tried the Webroot removal tool which ran and stated it was removed. I even tried installing a new trial using a different email address and trial code, then uninstalled that. Same issue. There is nothing in Startup to indicate Webroot should be starting with Windows. I am unable to delete the WRCore program data folder. Access is denied.  

Will not uninstall. Does not appear in app list but it is still on the machine. I no longer need this on this pc.

Carbonite has become a major irritation. Not only is it abominably slow but every time I’m diverted to it I’m questioned by an annoying security app only to find my password doesn’t work. I seem to have to generate a new one for each visit. Last time I visited I forgot my password I clicked on the resulting email and found myself logged in to my account!!!Why has Webroot put itself in the hands of these amateurs? Who are they anyway? Norton killed itself doing a similar thing when it hitched up with Symantec.

I enabled webroot to use Lastpass authenticator. When I got a new phone webroot info did not transfer in the Lastpass authenticator app.  I do not have a secret code to start over because I can not access my webroot account.  Where do I go from here?

How can whitelist my website from your database if I’m not a client? Website is clean and working perfect.

After installing Webroot Secure Anywhere, I noticed that Windows Defender continued to run and appears as the primary security software under Windows Security - Virus & Threat Protection. This is not the case when using other security software - examples that come to mind are Norton 360 and Sophos.Also, the Windows Antimalware Service Executable is running all the time, performing scans and using significant resources. While I tried turning it off, including through the Windows Registry, it cannot be disabled.I’m pretty sure that this is a defect in the Webroot software, unless Webroot has decided to use the Windows antimalware engine in place of its own. Note that I have tried this on two different machines running Windows 10 and Windows 11 respectively with the same result. And aside from Windows Defender, which Webroot should be disabling, there’s no other security software running.I’ve opened a Support Ticket with Webroot Support, but have heard nothing
