Sorry I forgot to introduce myself. I'm a middle aged person trying to maneuver in this world of technology. Hopefully I can help someone and not always looking for help. Thanks for being here for me.

We finally have a date!   Mashable reported today that Microsoft is set to begin shipments of Windows 8 by the end of October.   Microsoft has finally set a date — actually a couple of dates — for delivery of Microsoft Windows 8 to customers. The eagerly anticipated operating system overhaul is set to “RTM” (Release to Manufacturing) the first week in August and then ship at the end of October.   Are you looking forward to getting your hands on it? Do you think this will motivate people to stay on Windows PCs?

This Friday is a big day for all Microsoft fans out there. The much anticipated Windows 8 OS is launching to the world. Microsoft has been creating excitement around their Windows 8 phone and Surface tablet. The Windows store will now introduce everyone to the snazzy new metro apps.But on the other hand, some are saying that their either too late to the game, or battling a steep learning curve.   Since we have a lot of Webroot Community members that are also Microsoft users, I wanted to get a little discussion going.    Are you..."going Microsoft?" Do you plan to embrace all of these new Microsoft offerings?

Hello,   First of all I am aware that the issue I am going to explain here doesn't primarily belong to Webroot. It is rather Google's issue. Anyway maybe somebody experienced the same problem and might shed more light on how to solve it.   I had installed Android Premier Paid. I switched my license to Complete two days ago by the following steps.   1) I uninstalled Premium 2) Downloaded Complete from the Google play, installed and activated   Looking into installed applications in my HTC, I see there only Complete being installed, no mentions about Premier. That's alright.   However looking into Google play account there is Premier as being installed and requiring update or uninstalling. Please see below snap:

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post about this problem.   I joined the Community a couple of months ago, but my password seems to keep expiring.  I have things set to remember my log-in details; and for the most part this works.  However on two occasions now auto sign-in has not occurred and when I choose to sign-in and manually enter my details, I am told the password does not exist.   Each time I have requested a password reset e-mail and this has allowed me to enter a new password.  Do the passwords automatically expire after a certain time or am I missing something here?   Thanks in advance!

New Member here.  Install went fine and I received the "you are protected" message on the Overview Tab with everything checked green.  My one question is: my system events is going crazy as if it is still scanning.  It is at over 800,000,000 and when I go to details.  My Windows/GDI Events and Registry Events are the biggest sessions going non-stop.  Is this normal?  I am sorry.  I am new all this, but I just wanted to ensure nothing is wrong with my computer.   Thanks in advance! Hello everyone!   I just started using WebRoot two days ago and will post a couple of questions in the appropriate forums.   Thanks in advance for any help received. I hope I can contribute as well in the future.

The latest update kinda confused me. When I mouseover the taskbar icon it says "Webroot SecureAnwyhere v8.0.2.14. Which version is this?

Don't fall victim to the many telephone scams out there stating that you have malware on your computer. A few months ago I received a telephone call from Microsoft (Scammer) stating that my computer has malware on it and they wanted to help me remove the malware. I am a long time computer technician. Actually started working on computers in '84 programming them. Then got into the support side as a hardware tech and then as IT Support for the Federal Reserve. Long time user of Webroot from the early days. Fully a convert. I run a home computer repair business out of my home and have literally hundreds of customers who for the most part are all Webroot subscribers primarily due to me. Helium-filled WD drives promise huge boost in capacity   Western Digital is preparing to launch a line of hard drives filled with helium gas that is said to drastically reduce internal friction and thus lower power consumption by 23% while increasing capacity by 40%.   The 3.5-in data center drives, developed by WD subsidiary Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (HGST), are expected to be available next year.   This strikes me as a novel approach to eliminating friction from the spin of the drive.  It makes perfect sense being that Helium is lighter and doesn't react with other elements under most circumstances by nature of being a noble gas.   I still prefer SSD's for speed, but for size, this should prove to be a pretty cool advance

I'm a newby here but would like to be a "reglar".  I have been messing with the hardware end for 25 years or more.  I leave the software up to you egg heads but if it's hardware...unless it's just broke...most times I can make it work when no one else can.  If you have plenty of money...you just buy new...but po' folk have to try to make the stuff they have plod on.  i'm not your average twerp (not that there's anything wrong with that) but I live out in the rural setting where people are struggling for every dime.  Computer work is not a priortiy until it goes out on the farm and farmer JOHN has lost his data for 800 milk cows .  lol...he doesn't want to spend $1000 for a new unit but he'll pay me $2000 to get what he had back.  BACK UP?  HUH?  When I finish with them, they know how to back up and forward, how to type, how to spell their name.  It's not just about fixing the modem...it's a whole education for them..  Anyways...i'm proud to be an American helping Americans.

and I need some information.  First of all I have an Android tablet that is just a low end one that only has version 2.3.3, will WRA complete work on that version, it is a Coby Tablet.  Another question I have is this, I am currently using the free version of AVAST on my machines.  Should I remove it or can it be used along with WRA Complete?  If it can be used, will it cause confusion?    Thank you for any help anyone can give me.

Hey All! Happy Friday!   The Community has stayed fairly low-key today so I thought I'd liven it with some news from everybody's favorite Cupertino company! Yes, this means another Apple story.   In their quest to try to dominate seemingly every inch of the tech industry, the latest reports suggest Apple is now talking with music labels as they decide whether or not to introduce a new service that will stream music based on your tastes. This Pandora-esque move, although still in it's infancy, is already having it's effects, mainly in the form of Pandora shares falling 17% after the reports came out.   Apple already dominates the music market with iTunes so a radio service that will give users a more custom music experience should be a great way to add that extra dimension to the iTunes experience that's currently missing. Good Morning, Happy Saturday, Sept 1,2012   New Community User Mike B here in the great state of Kansas.   My wife and I have started a new home based internet business.  We have quickly discovered that access to the internet and a good running PC network is absolutely critical.  In fact, these have become our "Achilles Heels" so to speak, one for our right foot and one for the left. LoL.   Quick General Question for the community, When running a PC scan via webroot, Is it best to be Online and connected to the internet network or Offline?   Blessings my Friends, MBinKS
