Got a Question?

Hi, we have been dealing with few computers, all having the same problems - mouse freezing when starting Firefox. Have been trying all sort of stuff, uninstalling Firefox, removing all extensions, updating Windows, removing Webroot browser extension, installing old versions of Firefox, installing new latest Beta Firefox...but all those at no avail. Still mouse clogging, practically unusable computers. Until one pointed into right direction: try uninstalling Webroot, just for test. And Voila! All is working now, light speed, no problems!   Just for test I installed back Webroot to one of those computers, and immediatelly Firefox become unresponsive. Actually so unresponsive, that I needed to hard-boot into Restore Mode. And I am sure that Browser Extension was NOT active!   What's going on? Any info on this?

We unfortunately have to use Google Chrome on our RDS servers and it seems Chrome regularly likes to run it's own "Software Reporter Tool" which scans for problems in Chrome and at the same time massively slows down our RDS server everytime it runs.   I haven't been able to find a way to remove it globally from Chrome but can I get Webroot to stop it from running? It appears to be just a single .exe file saved in each users roaming appdata. I looked for the MD5 but this seems to be different perhaps for different versions of the tool. So really need to block this file by name "software_reporter_tool.exe"?   Chris

As an MSP I need to send a monthly report of all the cool stuff we do for clients each month that would otherwise go unseen. After all if we do our job right, the client never hears from us, except when we send the bill or otherwise proactively communicate with them.  So the threat history report is great because it will show everything we protected them from each month when we send it with the bill.  But obviously it defeats the purpose when an MSP tool requires manual intervention every billing cycle.     Is there a way to schedule the report to go out to a client at a specified day each month?   Thanks for any help and ideas!   Regards, Jason Wintensive Technologies

Does anyone have any idea when this version will be released? I know there was a question about how to perform the needed regsitry entry through Webroot but Webroot stated it will automatically add this registry key through this 19 release. Hoping this is going to occur prior to Microsoft's rollup release this week which includes the fix for Meltdown and Scepter.

I cannot uninstall webroot from a customer's computer using add/remove programs.  I tried "C:Program Files (x86)WebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall" and it says "are you sure you want to uninstall" and I say yes, then it says it's being managed by the central console and I have to make the changes there. BUT, the machine doesnt' show anywhere in the console either.    I need to get this off the customer's computer so that I can reinstall using a different procedure and get it to show in the management console. MS Teams Desktop version Update is being blocked by Webroot for all of our Teams users. They all started getting prompted for the x64 update file. Is there a fix for this or do we have to add the program to exceptions? Id rather not have to add programs to exceptions exspecially a Microsoft Product. I would think this would be a white listed program already. Please let me know if there is a fix in the works for this?    Thank you for any insight! 

Just wondering what the recommendation is with regards to installing Webroot on virtual machines? I'm putting together a few new Windows servers that will host (Hyper-V) multiple Windows 2016 servers. Should I install AV on just the physical servers? Should I install AV on just the VMs? Should I install AV on everything?   Thanks for any help.

Our default policy is a workstation policy.  Is there any risk when I add a server and it gets assigned the workstation policy?

Hi   Since I upgraded a few machines to 1709 last week I noticed some major issues. The most obvious one was group policies with client side extensions failing to apply. I noticed that some Windows folders were denying me access too such as C:ProgramDataMicrosoftGroup PolicyHistory{GUID}. After looking into this further I found this thread and further down mentioned general permissions/access issues. Uninstalling Webroot completely cleared up the issues I was having. I spoke with support who acknowledge (vaugley) that there was a known issue and offered a couple of work arounds with a fix on the horizion. The work around was to turn off "Realtime Shield - Scan files when written or modified". This has worked! A couple of things I would love to know:   1. What exactly is the iss

Say I have 3 offices 1) Oslo 2) Zimbabwe 3) Dubai   I have one IT person in dubai who manages about 200 end points.    Is there any way to give this Dubai IT Person access only to the Dubai group? Seems weird that admin has either access to EVERYTHING or nothing?

Hi everyone, so this might be completely wrong to ask. But i manage around 400 - 500 POS clients, all using Webroot. However, we've noticed that alot of these machines gets "Random freezes" at bootup, as soon as windows starts and logins the system more or less freezes as soon as you try to do something, could be open up Control Panel, go trough your Files in the explorer. It always ends up with our cashiers having to hold in the power button and restart the machine, and sometimes it takes 3 - 5 reboots until it works, in worst case scenarios we have to install new machines.. We have around 60 - 70 POS units in another country not using WSUS & Webroot and they are working fine.   Typing here hoping anyone has a clue what it is, only thing we've done is installed Webroot & installed WSUS Updates.   If anyone has an answer or have heard of something similiar to this then please get back, i'd be thrilled!  

I regularly use the WSAB -poll command for Windows workstations, having scripted it into our RMM software so I can force agents to poll the Webroot console when I have made policy changes, or when I've found an update is available.   Is there a similar Terminal command for Mac agents?  I'd like to be able to work with the Mac agent the same way, pushing out a poll command to them when an agent is not updating.

I have a client that has several kiosk/public workstations available to their users. Every night these workstations are restarted and all changes made throughout the day are reverted. With their previous antivirus solution, I was provided a listing of folders that should be excluded by the reverting software. Is there a similar list for Webroot? I'd like to cut them over to our Webroot solution very soon and don't know how it will be affected by the nightly restarts and reverts back to their default settings.   Thanks!

We have run the KnowBe4 Ransim v1.1 simulation and found that WSA has trouble protecting against this quite useful ransomware test simulation. This is an updated version of the test that did pass according to previous Webroot testers. Previous older version of the Ransim test is mentioned here: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Product-Questions/Knowbe4-RanSim-Ransomware-Simulator/td-p/273428   We have enabled PUA detection on a copy of the Recommended Default Policy in Endpoint Protection console and checked the policy was updated on the Win7 endpoint.   Any other recomendations?  

We are in the process of installing Webroot on our network. We have some shop PC's that I have it installed on but they are not reporting to the admin console that it is installed. They are not reporting becasue they don't have internet access. What they do have is access to our company exchange servver to have email. So accessing that email server on our local network then opens up the possiblility of them getting something dangerous in an email. What hole do I need to open in my firewall policy so those PC's can report to Webroot's admin console and get policy settings pushed to them?

I have 5 different sites all with the same issue. Hyper-V 2008R2 Guest RDP users start to get a black screen and then get disconnected.(slowly over 15 minutes not all at once) all new RDP connections are rejected as if the server is offline. Local Console goes black/unresponsive - Forced to hard reboot server to gain access again.  

Can i create a MSI installation file with both productkey and group name? i know about the command lines but i want one file easy to install for clients that puts them in the right group at ounce.   thanks in advance   Mattias  

Hi there. I've wsa installed on nearly 100 endpoints. I'm experiencing some random issues on some pc's and I've already opened a ticket with the support but in the meantime I'd like to know if other people got into this strange behaviour. Randomly (at the moment only six machines are affected), wsa stops communicating with the cloud console which is showing me "not recently seen". At the endpoint side,  wsa seems to be stuck....right click mouse doesen't work (nothing happens), a double click over the icon opens webroot iconized but I cannot enlarge the window. If I click over it, nothing happens. No way to remove it from the endpoint side as I should do it through the web console which is in any case not communicating correctly with the pc. I cannot stop webroot and try to rebuild the WrData folder (as suggested) since I have no menù option available. I have a bunch of pc's with the same operating system and same hardware (same subnet too) so it gets really hard for me to f

Hey guys I was hoping someone could possibly help me out. Now I wont lie when I say I'm really liking this stuff, but the only problem IM having is deploying with GPO.    It shouldn't be this hard but for some reason its not working at all. I even did a little test and it went like this   I put the folder on the root of C of a test server, shared it out like I was supposed to in the youtube vid they have. I put both firefox, AND webroot in there, so both would have the same permissions. I then set the GPOs up the exact same, nothing was different. Then I moved it to the OU where it is going to end up, i did a gpupdate on the server, then on my computer, then logged off and back on.   when i logged back on, firefox was there, webroot was not? Why is webroot not installing at all i keep getting the same thing when i do gpresult -r.   The following GPOs were not applied because they were filtered out         Local Group Policy
