Relation between Webroot and Best Buy.

I have run Webroot for many years and have a current subscription. I saw a possible indication of a virus on my desktop computer and went to support where I got redirected to the Best Buy Geek Squad and told that I was entitled to a free remote session to check out my computer. I was then refused the free session because I hadn’t bought Webroot from Best Buy and they had no record of me subscribing to it. Is this how it’s supposed to work?

As of yesterday, I started getting a Webroot pop up when I start my computer telling me that this event wants to install itself to start up every time the computer does. I didn’t know what it was, so I may have blocked it as Webroot suggested. But then there was another pop up saying that it was trying to connect to the internet. Looking online, I found that this program was a part of Window, maybe edge. I tried allowing it, but all that does is refresh the pop so the timer resets. It does this over and over if I click on the allow button. If I let it go until Webroot says it will allow it (2 minutes I think), then the pop up goes away. But today it popped up a second time doing the same thing. I did sent in a support ticket, but I figured I’d check here. I can’t say for sure that it said that it wanted to install itself to run on start up today for sure. I didn’t think to check. It may have or it may not have. I did look under Blocked items under PC Security, but nothing was listed. D

Got (phishing scam) email for online payment service

I got an email from some company that said I was to be charged to an online payment service almost $600.00 I do not want to be to specific just in case those bad guys are watching this web group. Anyway of course i opened the attachment oops am i now hacked? i ran webroot and webroot found nothing am i still hacked though? please let me know any help would be much appreciated I tried to go to the web based payment service and report the email they AI gave me an adress to send it too I wanted to see if AI could look at email an attachment to see if any code could be written into my computer from opening the email attachment please reply thanks

Webroot Blocking all Nividia Product Updates

It appears that Webroot is blocking all of my NVIDIA product updates with error code: 0x80070005. I have added every “.exe” file in all of my NVIDIA Corporation folders to the Webroot “Allow” category to no avail. Where can I see what exact files Webroot is blocking so that I can fix the issue. If this will be an issue of blocking without an opportunity to override the block in the future, using Webroot will waste my time and lose any functionality for me.

No longer can see the option to scan files when right clicking on them

As the title says. As of updating my webroot subscription and keycode from Bestbuy, I can no longer right click a file and click “Scan with Webroot” option. I can still scan normally using webroot, but that option is gone. I tried going to bestbuy geeksquad online for direct support, but they swear this feature was never there, when I know it was there. Any advice.

Possible False Positive

Hi Happy Easter if you are celebrating.I scanned a new system with Webroot Secure Anywhere and a file that is part of an AMD Driver package is being flagged with W32.Coinminer.Gen. I uploaded the file to the Virus Total Website and Webroot was the only software that Detected the issue.I have also submitted the file using the report function within Webroot Secure Anywhere which again flagged the file. So if this is a false positive does anyone know what happens next and if it is not a false positive what should I do?Thank you.

Unable to cancel Webroot Subscription

Hello, I used to have a laptop that I used Webroot on until I replaced the laptop in March 2023. Prior to getting rid of it, I believed I had cancelled the subscription to Webroot. However, I was just checking bank statements now and saw I was charged 29.99 for “Webroot Yearly Plan” in October 2024 Since I lack the keycode to cancel since the laptop is gone, I attempted to put in my email to Webroot’s Auto-renewal Cancellation link here: https://www.webroot.com/us/en/auto-renewal-optout Which gave me the response shown in the attached picture. So I called the number and Best Buy confirmed what I had said, that the subscription had been cancelled in March 2023. I asked for my keycode to attempt cancelling on Webroot site just in case, which they gave me. When I entered the keycode, I got the other attached image, saying this license is not currently enrolled in autorenewal. The Best Buy support person was unsure of how to help and recommended I call Webroot and gave me their support num

Webroot isn't deleting fake anti-virus

I’ve been a Webroot user for almost 12 years and am generally pleased with it. However, I have recently been getting fake virus alerts from “Microsoft” and “McAfee” and Webroot isn’t erasing them. For example, a loud alarm tone will sound off from my wife’s laptop, then a few verbal warnings that we should call “Microsoft” immediately. If I run Webroot at that point, it doesn’t delete the malware, even if I re-boot, etc... Is there a quick fix for this, or do I need to re-install the software? Thanks, Roy in New Mexico

Webroot Internet Security renewal for several years

Greetings!I'm trying to renew my Webroot Internet Security for three years, as I've done before. private firefox and keycode

Every time I start firefox as a private window, i get a webroot message saying, To activate this extension, please enter your Webroot SecureAnywhere keycode below,followed by more text, and a box to enter a "New keycode:" which, of course, is the old and only one.Webroot does this Every. Single. Time. As you can imagine, this is extremely annoying. I'm hoping there's a way to enter the code once and for all, private window or not. Can anyone provide a way to do that, please?tia!

I am seeing an number of hits from different client of the Win.Trojan.Coffeeloader malware of the last couple of days. Has anyone else seen this one. I have done reading on this but doesn’t seem to be any real data on how to properly check that these hits are legit and not false postives. They seem to find the issue in ARMOURYAIOSDK.DLL from Asus Armoury Crate. I have check the first system with additional malware checkers and found nothing. Webroot has been quarantining the file but trying to get a second opinion from other checkers. Anyone else seeing this?

I already have webroot essentials for my computers, and the free webroot app for my apple mobile devices. Question: what is the advantage of purchasing the Webroot SecureAnywhere upgrade? I have read and read, and I can not find where the purchased upgrade, offer any advantage over the free App. I can see that the upgrade offers alot more for other mobile devices, but not for the iOS devices. I called Webroot sales, the first salesperson, assured me that I dont need the upgrade and that the free App, is all I need. I called a second time, and the saleslady insisted that I need it.. when I point to her that a previous salesperson, had assured me that my app devices only needed the free app... she was quite annoyed and put me on hold for long long time, never got back and got disconnected.... so do I need the upgrade or the free app is all I need?

Webroot blocking Roblox despite it being in the allow files section

For some reason for the past day whenever my brother tried to play roblox on my laptop it didn’t work. I know webroot is blocking roblox because when I open task manager and try to open roblox, its ram usage goes up for a second or two then goes back down to normal. It only works when I turn off all the protection settings, but I don’t want to do that. Is there any way to get it to work? This happened once in the past but it went away on its own without me doing anything for some reason. This time it hasn’t gone away even after I restarted my laptop. How can I also prevent this from happening again in the future?

scan cancels

hi ,my webroot is blue and seems to only scan for a few seconds and cancels .on my Mac at the top right bar click on the webroot icon and a drop down comes up but the scan my computer is grey so you can not click on it if i open the webroot i can press the scan button on the front left but only sans for a few seconds or 10 minutes all so no progress bar comes up.thanks

Our WR SAT point of contact clients are wanting an interim report during a campaign to see the users yet to action or complete and therefore require follow up prompting. A report showing up to date progress is a common request. I understand this feature is not yet available.

Secure Erase

Hello Everyone. Inside my Webroot Secure Anywhere CE 25.1, I also have the Secure Erase, I remember years ago it was called Window Washer am i Correct?? Years ago my friend who was an Computer Engineer, this is what he told me , ”Quote” If you have a SSD Drive, you should only use the Normal Level of Secure Erase, otherwise If you use Medium, or Maximum, there is a possibility you may Damage your SSD Drives… Is that True? Please let me know Thanks
